The weather pattern is undergoing a significant change and you probably felt it Monday morning. We warned of the possibility of a widespread frost and that is exactly what happened. Locations into Northern and Central South Carolina got in on the cold temperatures as well. This recent major cold front has set the stage for a nor’easter later this week and early weekend.
If this storm were to occur in the month of December, we would be looking at a major winter storm, but we still have some residual warm air just above the surface and this will negate that from happening this time. However, this is more than likely a pattern that will repeat several times over the next five months and will soon bring us some winter weather.
After this storm, we will see another wave drop in rapidly behind the departing nor’easter. This system is very uncertain right now and could bring snow to the NC Mountains and even some mix or snow flurries in the Northern Foothills/Piedmont of NC. This will not be a big deal outside of the mountains though. The mountains of NC could pick up 1-3” of snowfall with this system as it comes from the NW. There is a small chance that this system could develop into something more but just watching this at the moment. I will discuss the possibilities with members in our member email today.
