The pattern will favor a winter storm threat during the time period of December 13-18. This does NOT meant that it is a definite and we will be watching to see how things trend. However, the trend has been for colder weather and the weather models are struggling to keep up. This forecast is based on the pattern that we first mentioned back on November 21, 2019 and now is setting up. Many forecasts were for a warm November through March but we do not agree with that. The winter outlook issued back in August was explaining how we expected this winter to trend and so far it is working out as expected. Many forecasts for November failed and many more will in December, if human interaction is not given to the pattern. This is a pattern not seen since the 1960’s and 1970’s. We provide a forecast based on local climatology and past patterns versus relying solely on the weather models alone. Many times we have called for a winter storm and the weather models did not catch on until a few days before. This left the public more unprepared as local tv meteorologists did not call for much until the weather models did. This is NOT the way our forecasts work and we strive to give you the best and most accurate forecast.
